July 23, 2007:   New Focus of New Hampshire Travel Council

The New Hampshire Travel Council, founded in 1974, will direct all of its attention and focus to an industry-wide Governor’s Conference on Tourism, held in the spring of each year. Due to this decision, the annual fall conference, originally scheduled in Portsmouth, will be merged into the 2008 Governor’s Conference on Tourism, to be held at the Mount Washington Resort in Bretton Woods, May 6 & 7, 2008. The Travel Council will continue to provide its members with regular tourism news and industry trends through its newly launched e-newsletter. The organization's day to day operations will be managed by the volunteer board of directors that will continue to partner with other state-wide tourism groups to deliver its mission to the tourism industry in the State of New Hampshire.

Based on this change in direction and focus, the New Hampshire Travel Council will no longer employ its one staff member and will no longer operate an office in Manchester. The Travel Council will use the Dept of Resources and Economic Development as its home base to continue its efforts moving forward.

The New Hampshire Travel Council would like to thank Nancy Kilbride, the President and CEO for her 8 ½ years of service. Nancy’s last day with us will be Friday July 27. If you require additional information please contact Ben Wilcox, Chair at (603) 356-5543 ext 300 or Pat McDermott, Immediate Past Chair at (603) 634-2386.
